Tewkesbury Medieval Festival - 9th & 10th July 2011

It didn't look promising, rolling into Tewkesbury with the rain stair-rodding down, but for the Friday afternoon at least the festival site itself was miraculously spared. We managed to get set up in the dry and we were set for the weekend. And it was a great weekend, despite a heavy shower on Saturday that sent the punters scurrying for cover. The Windrush Free Company's newest member, Rob, did a sterling job walking the field drumming up trade with menaces.

For the first time the Windrush Free Company took part in the battles to their great enjoyment. Excitement was increased by proximity of an enormous cannon which went off frequently. Did the earth move for you? It bloody well did for me! You can bet that the Windrush Free Company will be back in the thick of it next year.

Andy and Simon went over to the dark side and bought crossbows, but they were mighty fine crossbows, it must be said. There's something about having a crossbow over your shoulder that imparts a certain swagger. And they exploited it to the max.

Once again a big thank you must go to the whole crew who came along to help. Without your help it just wouldn't work.
