By our Lady, it was a miracle! A Tewkesbury when it didn't rain - well, only a little bit in the night. The rest of the time it was baking. The Windrush boys and girls got down to
having a good time and there was even a bit of have a go archery thrown in. Mark spent the first 24 hours debating whether he was going to buy a war hamer or a falchion.
War hammer or falchion? War hammer or falchion? Finally he chose the war hammer (probably thinks he should have got the falchion as well). Either way, it's something effective
Jay can use on him when circumstances require.
Ian kept us well fed once again. His magnificent beef stew was enjoyed by all, especially Colin who loved it because it wasn't rabbit. And then cheese, wine and grapes. What more
could an army on campaign wish for? That, and a star-strewn sky to look at as the camp fire embers die down.
Windrush also extended archery lessons to fellow re-enactors as well as the paying public, instructing the Stanley Household in the finer points of the English longbow. They were most
impressive, loosing volley after volley at our castle. Let's hope they don't sit on the fence when the Windrush Free Company needs a bill block to back it up!
A special thanks must go to the newbies: Sean, Andy, Dave and Jo who threw themselves into it with gusto and were invaluable in making the weekend the success it was.
All in all the best Tewkers yet.
