Tewkesbury Medieval Festival 2009

This year's Tewkesbury was a pretty good one. A great pitch, good company and we made a bit of money for the club. Sooner or later we'll get a weekend where it doesn't rain. Fortunately for us, the inclement weather held off until Saturday night so it didn't discourage the public from turning up to have a go. And then when it did rain there was the beer tent and a good band. It was an Irish band so the craic, as they say, was good.

Ian W. the forester kept us fed with good hearty medieval fayre. The cauldron got used in anger for the first time and it provided excellent rabbit and beef stews. The only thing missing from Chef's armoury was a bit of salt which Guy and Sue remedied by shooting off to the nearest supermarket. The fact that they were still dressed in full medieval gear made not the slightest difference as half the people in the supermarket were dressed the same anyway.

Our resident peasant, Bob, did a sterling job retrieving overshot arrows by wading through the ditch behind our pitch to get them. Some things are above and beyond the call of duty.

Thanks also to Stella and Sue who came along to lend a hand. Without the assistance of family and friends, our have a go's just couldn't work.
