Druids - 21st February 2010

There were times when it almost threatened to be spring-like. You felt the promise of warmer days to come as the sun sprinkled pale gold down through the trees. Right, that's the poetry done with. Druids put on a compact but thoroughly enjoyable 2x20 all 3D course and a good time was had by all. Windrush operate the same principle as Ian W. does with the raffle. If you buy enough tickets, you're guaranteed to win a prize, so if enough of Windrush turn up, some of them are bound to go home with gongs. And so it was.

Windrush took home the gold for gents AFB, but this time it was Hitch who walked away with top honours scoring a fantastic 612, beating John into bronze with only 568. And if that wasn't bad enough, John lost an arrow, too.

HT delivered a stack of medals with Tom (618) and Jamie (668) taking gold in junior and cub respectively. Matthew Brock (228) took the silver cub medal. Rebecca took the bronze in the ladies with 448.

And last but not least, Ian W. took the longbow silver with 566.

Of the rest of us, I think everyone had a good day. Martin was interviewed by the Windrush cub reporter and can be officially quoted as saying "Martin shot like a plonker", but he was still smiling.

We all loved the home made soup.

Mark B. and Mike shot round with Ali and Kira from South Wilts and Alan from Bath Archers. Alan was having a bad day, blaming luck for knocking in 20 after 20. That's the kind of rough luck we all want. But a special mention should go to Kira who, having not done archery for very long, got the prize for cub freestyle by shooting 442. Go Kira!

As a footnote, all those who went down to Druids in the Ryan love bus have now come down with colds thanks to Mike "Typhoid Mary" Pritchard who is officially being blamed for infecting everyone.
